mon océan & moi

Mathieu Ardyna

Postdoctoral fellow at Laboratoire d’Océanographie de Villefranche (LOV)

I am a recipient of a Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Fellowship, at Villefranche-sur-Mer laboratory (LOV) and at Stanford University (California, USA). My scientific interest is in understanding the possible changes in response to climate change in polar marine ecosystems (Arctic and Southern oceans). I am addressing this issue by focusing on the base of marine ecosystems through the study of phytoplankton with the combined use of field expeditions, autonomous platforms and satellites.

Anecdote ...

My first experience with oceans (or rather fish) goes back to my high school internship in a pet shop. My wish since child, was to work in large national aquariums, until my acceptance to INTECHMER. An incredible school that allows students to see the range of work related to the oceans, and my career path has since changed radically to work in the polar regions.

My motivation to participate in this project ...

People working in oceanography are for most of them driven by their passion for oceans. And this passion must be communicated to as many people as possible, to introduce the general public to the great challenges of the climate change and the beauty of our oceans.
